I still haven't found a definite answer on the number of pronunciations for "ough". Seven seems quite plausible, I found claims of 12 that seemed a bit stretched since they included lots of Scottish and other place names. And you won't know how to pronounce "bass" until I tell you if it is a fish or an instrument. Sorry, but when it comes to words I'm a bit homophobic. :-)
