Overall, I think Oracle will probably be a good custodian of Java. Obviously core Java is under the JCP, but even if Oracle have undue influence, who's to say if it will be more positive than negative? Over time there will influence the direction of app servers and the big end of town. But I'm hoping that they can shake up the Java brand as a technology. As we know, there is still the stigma of slow 1.2 JDKs and Applets. I've mentioned before I interviewed a dev who asked 'why do you use Java since it's so slow?' (no one is yet to find his body).
I like Oracle's logo. :) Red's pretty. but has anyone thought of the version numbers???
