Jan,

The Pro JavaFX book was written with both academic and corporate adoption in mind in terms of both the structure and content. During the writing process we had the benefit of early feedback from Dr. Jan Stelovsky of the University of Hawaii, who intends to use it as the textbook for his Intro to Hypermedia class.

We also had a huge focus on providing thorough coverage of JavaFX 1.2. While the release was underway, the JavaFX team did an awesome job of keeping us in the loop (kudos to Rich and Amy!), and we opted to delay our ship date by a few weeks so we could be completely up-to-date with the final JavaFX 1.2 feature set. Updating the book involved rewriting large portions, including the dynamic layouts chapter, which was a moving target up to the final week of the release.

Our book is due out in print in a couple weeks, but is available as an eBook today:

Disclaimer: I have purposefully not read any of the other JavaFX books out there until we finished ours, but intend to pick up a few copies now and start enjoying them. :-)

Cheers,

I'm searching for a book to give to students of a JavaFX course I'm giving. I'd rather give them one really covering 1.2 instead of "being compliant" with 1.2.

So, is this book covering 1.2 ?
