I did a search on the group, and here is a thread a couple of months ago
that suggested a bunch of good books.   Rather than list them all, you can

The tutorials on Sun's site are pretty good as well if you're looking to
find out more about a specific area of Java that you don't understand, or
just want to learn more about.
