I highly recommend getting an Asus EEE PC. I bought the newest one and
haven't had any trouble doing the work I want. Sometimes I have to remember
this is just a netbook and that it will be slow.

I strongly recommend avoiding the cheaper alternatives. You get what you pay
for with hardware. A friend of mine bought one from Dell and it has gone
back 3 times for repairs already. He has hardly used it and couldn't take it
with him on a big trip. Nothing is more frustrating than hardware that
doesn't work as advertised. I guess we have high expectations from hardware,
more so than our software. :)
