It occurs to me that some people will immediately respond to my above paragraph with: "I wasn't demanding anything! I was just having an interesting discussion on a mailing list!" Technically this response is correct. But the "interesting discussion" often leads to: "Sun is too stupid to realize how good my suggestion is, and Java will die without it." Sun eventually hears about pretty much all Java language ideas made worldwide. Many suggestions make flawed assumptions and it is not practical for Sun to correct those assumptions on a one-to-one basis. Nor is it possible for Sun to engage in a discussion about the design space which could, perhaps, lead to a small tweak being identified that improves a proposal tenfold.
