This official Sun stamp of approval would solve the problem I have with Joda-time. Namely proper support in third party libraries. I currently use Eclipselink and Icefaces - neither of which support joda-time. One can get into writing custom converters for these API's, but that only gets you so far and with a fair amount of trouble. If Joda-time / JSR 310 were part of java.*, then other 3rd parties would be forced to support it.
