Why so negative?

I checked my review of a highly respected German computer magazine
(c't) where they said the screen is "well-readable except for direct
sunlight". I remembered it differently, so yes, I've been too
negative.

So let's get positive: T-Mobile just dropped the price of the Nexus
One by $100, previous buyers will get a refund (http://www.v3.co.uk/v3/

Hi,

Well, I've bought a Nexus-1 and while I don't own an iPhone, I do have an iTouch. I just got the phone a few days ago so I'm just starting to get used to it. I also own an htc Diamond. Compared to the Diamond, the Nexus is a jewel. The Diamond isn't worth the plastic it's made out of. I could attribute most of the problems to the OS but quite frankly, the phone quality is almost as bad. So bad that I wouldn't have bought a Nexus-1 if I hadn't of first handles a friends. That convinced me that maybe this phone was different. And while I must admit that the phone is much better than the Diamond, it still suffers from some of the niggles that bothered me about the Diamond. The biggest one is the volume switch on the side of the phone. It is just way too easy to mute the phone by having it jiggle about in your pocket.

In terms of the usability of the OS.. I'd great.. but not brilliant. Today I had the experience of connecting to wifi being able browse web pages but not being able to sync with gmail. Filling out the form was an interesting experience. I could get to all of the text fields but check boxes were unreachable. Phone/phone book integration is a little less than wonderful, text messaging integration is less wonderful. That said, there is a definitive flow to the applications (buttons and menus) that one has to get used to before one would feel comfortable. In that regard my experiences with the iPhone/iTouch feel more fluid. Lets see, no date in the bar at the top of the phone by the clock and adding widgets can be ugly. Apps do work reasonably well.. have not sorted out how to sync with my laptop but then I've not tried hard yet. That's next after a trip to the app store.

In terms of screen quality, I'm very satisfied with the quality. I rivals my iTouch and some have commented that they believe it to be better.

All in all I'm I may do something to make the volume switch on the case less usable but overall I'm quite happy with the phone so far. Looking forward to digging into writting an app of my own.
