As usual, things have different perspectives and Dick has got for sure
his reasons. Technically I second the point that there is the .jar
passage, not only because this means that you can use existing
compilers of other languages, but also because you can use (static)
bytecode manipulators off the shelf, for instance as the Maven shade
plugin (that I found useful for some stuff).
