I just think Steve read a bit too much Arthur C. Clarke and now lives by "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". And these days it's hard to disguise a desktop or laptop computer as "magical". Gnome 3.0 will be pretty sweet though, and KDE 4.5 already is.
