-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Curiously, just yesterday I reformatted my 35MB partition for OpenSolaris because I need more spaces for my photos and I'm pessimistic about the fate of OpenSolaris. I have done a raw-partition backup in any case ;-)
I should we should not infer anything from the eventual death of OpenSolaris to the fate of other open products; indeed, it sounds as the opposite. I mean, Oracle made clear assessments about FLOSS products in the area of Java and is going on - for instance, you might have noticed that the plans for NetBeans 6.10 have been disclosed (there has been a delay, but it was need to the overhead of the internal restructuring of the corporate). If OpenSolaris actually dies, I think Oracle has been just coherent with it, as it never mentioned it in its plans. - -- Fabrizio Giudici - Java Architect, Project Manager Tidalwave s.a.s. - "We make Java work.
