Before the jigsaw project went a bit quiet in the past few months, one of the major updates to it was support for the jigsaw packager, which could emit rpms, debs, and other platform-local module systems.
NB: Jigsaw is the module manager system that's planned for java7. Searching for "java jigsaw", or "jigsaw-dev" should help. You can also search this mailing list; I've posted a review of Mark Reinhold (jigsaw lead)'s presentation at Devoxx in November 2009. You can also watch it for free on parlays now (google "reinhold devoxx").
