I must admit that I found the account example singularly unconvincing. The author found that the java version was too verse with the get balance function consisting of two nested loops with two equality tests. The replacement Scala code appears to consist of two loops containing two equality tests. Although the code is more succinct, I'm not sure that the intellectual load on the coder is any lighter.
