That's as clear an appeal to authority as I've ever seen. He gives
absolutely no hint about what's happening here, other than his guess
that "Oracle can't be that stupid". Sorry James, but, that's a
nonsensical argument. A Patent Troll's patent portfolio may be
blatantly aggressive and ludicrous, but legally sound. Oracle can do
the same thing, of course!

I also don't think this is an indication he changed his mind about the
stupidity (PR wise) and danger (for the IT community) that this case
represents. I just fail to see how "Oracle's legal team must be
competent" somehow translates to: "These patents pose little danger to
the community". It doesn't matter that James Gosling is publically
stating the same flawed reasoning. The reasoning is still flawed.
