We have to distinguish between suitability and appeal. I maintain that Scala
is *suitable* for all programmers. At the present point of adoption it *
appeals* mostly to good Java programmers, because those programmers realize
that they get clear productivity advantages with Scala. That's OK. Over
time, others will follow.


An important trait of being a good programmer is the willingness to learn
and push the boundaries of what can be done well. That's also why Scala is
quite suitable for new programmers, including children and students.
