I learned on VIC-20 then C64 then Amiga. But perhaps my drive to do that was a filter for genuine interest--now a lot of people end up studying CS or CompEng because it's a valid, parent-approved career option.
In fact, when I started filtering applicants to our co-op positions based on projects they did in their spare time rather than grades, course choices, and work experience from past terms, we saw a huge jump in quality.
