I don't think Java Desktop *ever* died, nor is dead now.

I will agree that it never succeeded in the general *consumer* market. I've 
never thought of Java as a platform in which to create mass-market 
applications, although in truth there is no reason why this could not have 
succeeded - it just did not.

Where Java Desktop *has* succeeded in in enterprise application development and 
vertical market applications. Java is a much better at this than 4GL languages 
like Delphi, Powerbuilder, Visual Basic, etc.

When people say "Desktop Java is Dead" they are implicitly referring to the 
consumer space, but this is not the whole story and is disingenuous.


Please stop repeating Apple's marketing FUD.
