Perhaps I overvalue it, but I don't think the example given by other platforms can be ignored. All it took was a single application built using Rails to see that the majority of the Java frameworks were incredibly bloated and required a ridiculous amount of boilerplate to get the same results. Nowdays, I think you are doing yourself a major disservice as a developer if you have not seen how at least 2 or 3 other language frameworks do things. A passing acquaintance with Java frameworks is of course still valuable.
