The Applications entry in the dock is quite similar to the pre-Vista start menu. The Vista and 7 start menu is a hybrid between the old style and Spotlight (and the search doesn't work for me on a Windows 7 install). Windows 3.1's main UI looked remarkably similar to Amiga's Workbench. I imagine Workbench was copied from elsewhere, but I don't have any experience with older interfaces than that (the Spectrum 48K and Commodore 64 didn't really have GUIs). I wish Windows would copy workspaces/virtual desktops from the other OSs. I know MS have an extension for that but it doesn't work very well. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
