Given Mark's continued dedication to talking about Jigsaw at Devoxx, I wouldn't say that Jigsaw' status as "TBD" is indicative of its potential demise.
FWIW, Joe Darcy said that JDK8 will "probably" go through another coin process (he even named it: Project Coin - The Flip Side), which will this time around have more process. i.e. it'll take longer, go in phases, and if you don't have the requisite stuff for each phase, the proposal is kicked. One of the requisites before advancing to the final round will be a working prototype. This means someone suggesting / cheerleading a proposal will either (A) need to expend significant time to write a prototype or (B) have the marketing capabilities to convince someone else to do it. I applaud that part - coin 1 was way too messy.
