Senior Software Engineer (2 Positions)
The Organization
IT Services (IT for IT) is the centralized IT organization responsible for
implementing a comprehensive end-to-end vision for planning, building,
executing and managing IT applications within Global IT. Within IT
Services, the Common Architecture and Services (CAS) team is responsible for
providing an integrated stack of software, tools, and standards to
accelerate the delivery of engineered business solutions while improving
quality, stability, and manageability.
The Position
This is a hands-on position. Design, build, test, and support current and
next generation tools, architecture, and platforms as a member of the Common
Architecture and Services (CAS) core team. Interact with cross-functional
teams as a technical leader, driving innovative ways to support our primary
stakeholder -- every IT development team in the enterprise. Provide
mentoring and guidance to other developers. Be an ambassador of CAS to
application development teams world-wide, exerting influence, and driving
the consistent architectural vision. Collaborate with your CAS peers and
other thought leaders in the enterprise on strategy, design, process, and
capabilities on a regular basis. Apply HP and 3rd party technologies while
leading the design of highly complex infrastructure and software solutions.
Independently implement end user or enterprise infrastructure or services of
significant complexity, while taking the time to simplify where possible.
Assign work to others, provide technical leadership, and provide time and
resource estimates for assigned projects.
Duties include:
- Draft functional specifications from business requirements
- Developing java framework and tools software to be embedded in
business solutions world wide
- Design, prepare and execute unit tests as well was provide guidance
to QA teams during system testing
- Collaborate with team leads/architects during technical design
- Resolve defects during QA testing and in post-release patches
- Resolve defects on production systems
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
Typically a technical Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a
minimum of 10 years of related experience or a Master's degree and a minimum
of 8 years of experience.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- 6 or more years of experience writing code (such as, and not limited
to, Java, C, C++, C#, Python)
- Experience with testing tools
- Experience working with multiple full release cycles
- Deep understanding of server-side Java environment and relational
databases
- Deep understanding of object oriented programming, design patterns,
data structures and algorithms
- Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix
- Experience with tuning applications, SQL and databases for best
performance
- Good documentation skills (excellent in written and verbal
communications a must)
- HTML experience a plus
- Experience with any frontend MVC framework (Struts, Spring, JSF) is
a plus
- Advanced understanding of modern software development tools and
Software Configuration Management (SCM).
- Good verbal and written communication skills; influencing skills and
ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team.
- Demonstrated technical leadership skills.

Business Consultant / Project Manager (1 Position)The Organization

providing an integrated stack of software, tools, and standards to
accelerate the delivery of engineered business solutions while improving
quality, stability, and manageability.
The Position
Senior Business Consultant/Project Manager to drive IT initiatives and
projects within the CAS area of the IT Services organization. Candidate
will work in a challenging and quick-paced environment to drive
implementation of the CAS strategy as it applies to multiple HP
organizations including Global IT, Enterprise Business, Enterprise Services,
HP software and Services. A critical competency for this position is the
ability to resolve conflict and influence business partners to align to
pan-HP and IT strategies. Experience managing highly visible IT projects and
cross-organizational teams that include both business and IT participants
across all levels of management. You will also support the IT team by
managing RFCs, software exceptions, assisting in driving release management
activities, and communicating status on multiple projects within the CAS
team. Good written and verbal communication is a must. You may be called
upon to assist in the creation of software documentation and other aids for
our worldwide customers who leverage the software that CAS provides.
Duties Include:
- Managing internal projects
- Communicating status on multiple internal projects
- Manage stakeholder relationships
- Manage upper level stakeholder relationships
- Manage RFCs for frameworks and services environment, batch and
online
- Manage data center exceptions end to end
- Manage all external data quality metrics related to CAS teams
operations
- Assist in driving software release management activities -- support
innovation and change across the organization.
- Author software documentation and other aids
- Continuously mines project data to assess overall contribution of
CAS to business success
- Continuously monitor, troubleshoots, and improves the CAS program to
ensure our effectiveness as an organization.
- Apply program/project, management methods and processes to define,
plan, cost, resource, track and ensure the accomplishment of
targeted goals
Education and Experience Required
Typically a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 7+
years of related experience. Specific software project management
experience a must.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Experience managing complex projects with many interdependency's
- Experience working with multiple full release cycles
- Good working knowledge of what it takes to manage delivery of a
software initiative
- Good documentation skills (excellent in written and verbal
communications a must)
- Good verbal and written communication skills; influencing skill and
ability to work effectively in a geographically dispersed team.
- Ability to approach problems in a rational manner using sound
strategies that ensure comprehensive understanding and effective
resolution.
- Experience with testing tools (such as quality and performance
center)
