I don't buy that theory. Such a decision would have to be made much
too early in life to be based on any cognitive reasoning about the
associated social environment. I could go into a counter argument
here, regarding the female savior instinct (i.e. how Neanderthals in
prisons always seems to end up having female pen-pals, worshipers,
wifes etc.) but that's probably not going to move this thread forward.

It's a generalization for sure, but don't we always tend to single out
the extreme when making points? And do we have more extreme alpha-
geeks than those within the open source community? (Generally doing
what they do out of no other motives than personal interest.) At least
Hans Reiser was not factored into this generalization! :)
