Reading all that, I must admit to being a tiny bit jealous myself!

If memory serves though, all the *really* interesting stuff starts with
venture scouts, which is mixed gender.

Then there's always Army/Air cadets, they're both very fair about letting
anyone shoot guns/fly planes (whatever your preference), so the
opportunities have always been there to not get sucked into "girly things"
if that isn't what you want.
