Since the iPhone, smartphones are computers that can also make calls. Imagine Microsoft shipping Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 in one year, and you have to update 5 laptops with 10 variations each time, updating your apps and your drivers. Now phones have a less periphery by an order of magnitude compared to laptops (except for the iOS devices with their standard dock connector, but I'm not sure Apple does a lot of testing there), but then they connect to two additional, sensitive networks which laptops typically don't: voice and data (data is probably at least two different networks, but that's a different question). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
