It's great, but it hasn't been updated in a long time. You forgot to mention

I think we already have tricorders. Take Google Translate's new
speech-to-speech functionality, Google Goggles, Word Lens on iOS, heart rate
monitor apps. Maybe not as scientific, but more useful on a daily basis than
a geiger counter (in most parts of the world).
