Yep, I think you can find endless debate about this over the internet. As long as you choose one of them - and not bzr, you are probably making a good decision. One way to decide is also to look at the technologies you are using. For instance, Mercurial is (of course) well used in the Python community but also in the Java world as it is less cryptic than git. The ruby world seems to be using Git massively...
This might seems like a stupid way to choose such a tools but this make a lot of sense actually because the communities behind will be more at ease to help you...
