I think the Windows Mobile 7 got it right, 3 general purpose buttons
seems about right. Android went a bit too far, as Karsten points out,
ít's hard to justify the "Menu" button. Another side-effect, also
related to UI usability, is how vendors can't seem to agree on a
convention for which order to place the buttons in - somewhat annoying
and just shouldn't be be an issue.
