I was a bit surprised by the announcement at first but I think that Microsoft might be Nokia's best chance to remain relevant (which is still a pretty tall order). Windows Mobile is a very good OS, but it takes more than being good to be a major player, especially when they're arriving so late at the party and that Android and iOS have already cannibalized most of the market.
