We may think that Java ME has gone, but Blackberry do not and there are
a large number of new projects being started within companies that have
Blackberry as a standard.  I know this as I have a number of companies
taking my Java ME course -- which is nice.

Java ME is ancient and horrible (it's basically Java 1.1.8 for those not
familiar with Java ME).  Trying to merge Java ME and Android is a hack
to get round some issues, it is not a strategicially viable plan.

I'd be sad to see it die as I get people wanting courses.  On the other
hand it should go.  But we should remember it, it is a lesson in how to
create instant legacy systems.  The whole VM/configuration/profile + JSR
mess might have been a good move in 1998, but . . .
