Hi http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/the-apple-data-center-faq/
Joe was right Apple data centre is one of the biggest in the world. Project Dolphin 2 building in total: first is done @ 505,000 square foot facility second building with be 505,000 square foot facility. That will be over 1 million sq feet ---- " The company has completed construction of a 505,000 square foot facility (pictured above) that ranks as one of the world’s largest data centers. Apple’s plans for the site include a second data center of similar size, and in recent months the company has obtained construction permits for preliminary work on the site of the second building. The company has also purchased 75 acres of land across the road from the data center campus. Local officials say Apple has given no indication of plans for this land, although rumors point to an office complex." As for the technology being used within the North Carolina data center, here are some factoids gleaned from Apple’s job postings: Apple says that its “data center environment consists of MacOS X, IBM/AIX, Linux and SUN/Solaris systems.” The Maiden facility will have a “heavy emphasis” on high availability technologies, including IBM’s HACMP and HAGEO solutions for high-availability clusters, Veritas Cluster Server, and Oracle’s DataGuard and Real Application Clusters. Job candidates are also asked to be familiar with storage systems using IBM, NetApp and Data Domain, and data warehousing systems from Teradata. Networking positions require a familiarity with Brocade and Qlogic switches. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
