I can answer to mP with the user's perspective. While I understand that there are troubles for some specific stuff, such as @Delegate, the simpler annotations work pretty well. I've been using them for several month, as default for new code and constantly introducing them into old code during refactorings. No problems with the IDE, even though I can only speak for NetBeans - but many people confirm that they work well under Eclipse too. A few days ago the Lombok guys were able to push the artifacts to Maven Central, which means that the last barrier to use for some projects has fallen. Recently I've started studying the internals because I think it's interesting to write one's own annotations to support some specific idioms.
