Let's assume for the sake of argument that the pro checked exception camp cannot convince the other side and vice versa. Let us also assume that both groups are large enough that their views cannot be dismissed by the other. The debate has gone on for 8 years or more so I cannot see anybody changing their minds now.
Let's imagine that checked exceptions have been removed from the language: The pro checked exception camp can write exactly the same code as now. The contra checked exception camp could write less code to achieve the same effect as they do now. That must surely be a good thing.
