I can't speak specifically about your motivation, but I've talked to a number of "no tabs" zealots who are also big proponents of CSS, and advocate anyone who uses spacer gifs to be lined up against the back wall as well. Perhaps it's just the people I've run in to, but I find that a bit odd (hardcoding spaces in code, but relying on CSS for presentation rather than hardcoding layout for the web).
