As Fabrizio pointed to me privately, NetBeans has included the ability to package apps for easy jnlp delivery "for ages". Yet, that does not solve the problem of an end-user (or a developer) who wants to easily repackage an application for jnlp delivery. For instance, the statement I quoted was from one developer who uses Mac OS X as his dev system, so I don´t know if he´s using any kind of ide at all. he could be using the bare JDK + Jedit, for all I know. That´s why I think there´s still room for some easy-to-use tool (perhaps to be delivered with the jdk?) that would easily allow repackaging an existing Java app for jnlp delivery. [perhaps it exists already, I don´t know, that´s why I´m posting this to this list] I wonder what happened to the devs of those Java JNLP wrapper apps. Maybe there´s still hope to track down their wereabouts and convince them to release their code as open source? I hate to see useful software sink into oblivion and forcing someone else to re-invent the wheel. FC PS: There´s plenty of great software delivered by Java Web Start, my top-3 favorites are muCommander (a Norton Commander clone) http://www.mucommander.com/webstart/mucommander.jnlp jDiskReport http://www.jgoodies.com/download/jdiskreport/jdiskreport.jnlp and yEd to create diagrams. http://www.yworks.com/products/yed/demo/yed.jnlp If I were at ORCL I´d include all three with the JVM, just as jnlp launch icons on the desktop or from the systray :) PS#2: Sorry, Dalibor, for the noise and "spam" <grin>, I´ll remove you from future replies to this thread, just wanted the guys up there to know some of the issues and opinions of us down here on the field. ;) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "The Java Posse" group.
