My Samsung Galaxy S2 drivers me nuts in that regard. It even has a loud beeping sound to indicate that the phone is fully charged, so if you put the phone on charge next to the bed when you go to sleep you'll be woken at 2am from this useless signal. It also _cannot_ be turned off without muting the entire phone - which in turn might cause you to miss important stuff like phone calls and reminders. I'm about ready to root it and put some stock android there just to get rid of that one "feature".
