its like this: JRE = Java Runtime Environment (on your machine) JVM = Java Virtual Machine (on any machine) simply means that there is a different Java program/interpreter for Microsoft Windows, Apple Computer, Mobile devices, etc... because they use different CPU chips & hence different programming languages... java looks after these differences & makes it easy for you to write programs that work on more systems...
