You are absolutely right..  :)  :)

We can omit the word "this" when there is no conflict
between the local variable and the instance variable
Though we are not writing this the compiler will imagine
it to be this.(variable)

if in your main method you call a function like

Example:

ClassA a = new ClassA() ;

and in main method you have

a.setVariable(value) ;

then this inside the method setVariable refers to "a"

As you practice more you will understand it more

And the keyword this has lots and lots of use...

You may learn it the future classes...
