I think your PATH environment variable might have been altered. Try checking 
your PATH environment variable by right-clicking "My Computer", choosing 
"Properties", "Advanced" tab, and clicking "Environment Variables". Under 
"System variables", check your "Path" variables; it should include something 
like "%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%" among possibly other directory paths.
