You might want to use the following references..
1) Java Complete Reference by Herbert Schildt
2) Java Tutorial on java.sun.com


A class is like a soft copy of your document. An object is a hard-copy.. You
have only one soft copy but you could make many hard copies out of the soft
copy ( you know the indian sayingfor this right..)

That should get you the basics.
