I'd go understanding. Like any language, after you understand it
you'll be able to communicate. In this case you'll be able to
communicate with Java and start writing you own ideas. If you just try
to memorize the syntax you wont understand it. Just go out there and
play with it... See what happens if you do something and dont worry if
you fail, after a while you'll start to understand all that! =)
You dont learn to ride a bicycle by watching others.
