The first problem looks like a bug in your Java version's "javah" program.
The second looks like a problem in the Linux kernel. The java-crashing problem is (should be) fixed in CVS, try getting the CVS code and see if that fixes the crash. However if there is a problem with the kernel USB stack, i doubt if you will be able to correctly all the USB dveices. What kernel is SuSE 8.2 using?
