I don't know what you are asking. If the device is disconnected from your computer, how can you claim it?
If you are getting a busy error when you try to claim a device interface, there is another driver that has already claimed it. If you use forceClaim (correctly) then the other driver will be removed for you (assuming you have a kernel that supports it, which 2.4.25 does). I am also assuming you are using the code from CVS.
