As I understood from the daveb.net/s710 project, the data encoding is indeed similar for the serial and USB interfaces. I tried to assess the work needed to use jUSB with the Polar Interface, looking at the Win32 jUSB port. It says that since the Interface requires an .INF files ( ie. a driver), this interface does not match a existing class driver. therefore some low-lewel stuff is needed. I guess the situation is the same under Linux.
