Hey Everyone:

For those of you who don't follow the jSyncManager Help forum (shame on you! ;) ), here's a useful bit of news: an enterprising jSyncManager user has released an alpha of javax.usb based on libusb- win32. I'm attaching his announcement from our forum below, along with the link to download his sources and binaries.

I'm hoping within the next few weeks to lend my support to make this code buildable on more platforms (especially Mac OS X. I'm moving cross-Canada this week, and won't be settled down for a while). Contributions by one and all are appreciated (I'm encouraging the developer to get some CVS repository space, and have offered him such within the jSyncManager repository, although at some point it should either be moved/copied to its own repository, put into the libusb repository, and/or put into the javax.usb repository).

I encourage everyone here who is interested in seeing javax.usb running on Windows to give this code a try, and to lend a hand wherever possible.

I have packed what I have written to support USB on Windows (using SWIG to wrap
libusb-win32). You can download it from

http://www.m-creations.com/downloads/javax-usb-windows-0.9.0.zip

It is NOT tested with a current version of JSM; I only have used it with my
slightly modified version of JSM 3.2 alpha 03 (I think).

The zip file contains the eclipse project (including the .classpath and .project files). There are pre-built binaries (jars and LibusbJNI.dll) in subdir
javax-usb-windows/lib.

You need to install the libusb-win32 driver before you can use it. I didn't check for the current version of the driver. I used it with a version which came out by end of 2004 (I have written the exact versions into a readme file).

Please post your testing results here, so everybody can benefit from the
answers.

I currently don't have much time but I'll try to help as much as I can.

But be warned: this is PRE-ALPHA code!!! Don't use it if you're not a programmer
who is willing to debug it!

HTH

Kambiz Darabi
