FWIW, I've been undertaking to document the PalmOS HotSync Protocol Stacks at the jSyncManager Wiki (http:// wiki.jsyncmanager.org). I've had to reverse-engineer these over the years due to a lack of documentation on PalmSource's part.
With recent announcements, who knows how long this information will be good for, but it may be useful in this case (if I ever get around to finishing it all up, that is).
Of course, if reading code doesn't bother you, the jSyncManager API (http://sf.jsyncmanager.org) is fully LGPL, and has the sources for both how to interface with Javax.USB, and the full PalmOS USB protocol stack implementation.
