Yesterday I asked where log4.properties should go. I have solved that one - it should be in the same folder as the main class.

Still did not make the system work. I have taken a copy of TraverseUSB from my Linux m/c where it works to my Windows m/c where I have installed the Libusb-Win32 and all the other .jar files as instructed. I now get the message

[DEBUG] JavaUsb – entering initialise

System Error – Illegal Operation

Putting in printout messages shows that the program does not get beyond the first instruction

UsbServices services = UsbHostManager.getUsbServices();

The system fails with the same message on the same line in ShowTopography.

What could cause this? Is it my installation is faulty somewhere or is it a fault with the program?
