Hi 

Idealy you would want to have both.  The turbojav is a training aid that can assist 
you in developing proper throwing technique. With expert coaching however the proper 
technique can be learnt with a real javelin.  Taking a long term viewpoint nothing can 
replace the "real thing".    So, if you are not in a position to get both I would go 
for the real jav.  I hope this helps.  Good luck!
