Hi Jason.
JAWS 8 seems to present a focus problem for many people including myself. It's
not just in Word, however. For me it has gotten much worse in the versions
after 7.0. Sure hope FS finds something to do about it. It is a real pain.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Jaws losing focus in Word 2003

  Hi everyone,
hope I am finely getting through to the list now. I have been receiving
messages fine from the list, since the move to Googlegroups. However, I could
not post messages. I had to get David to sign me back up. I have a question
about word 2003. I was wondering if the focus issue in word 2003 has been fixed
in Jaws 8.0? I don't have 8.0 installed yet. I don't know if it is just me, but
over the last few weeks or so, it seems to
be happening more and more. I have to keep on refreshing the screen, or alt
tabbing away and back again. Just in case people don't know what I am referring
to. When in a word 2003 document, Jaws sometimes fails to read the text. It
may or may not read the word, but will read the character. At the same time,
it may do a read all okay, but not read the paragraph. It can be any
combination of the read text commands. It gets really annoying, as I have to
keep
checking to make sure I am deleting the correct text etc. I noticed though,
that this did not start till a while after getting Jaws 7.0. However, it also
occurs in Jaws 7.1 and even if I go back to Jaws 6.2. I am using a Dell
desktop. Did I read on the list, that there have been some issues with Dell
systems
and Jaws? It seems funny, that I don't remember it being an issue till a
while after getting Jaws 7.0. Yet now, it happens in a few versions. Any one
still
  having the same problem?
  Thanks Jason
P.S did anyone else have trouble creating a Google account? When asked to
enter the code number shown in the picture, Jaws wouldn't let me. For example,
I clicked the link for screen readers, so I could listen to the code
number-this was great. However, when I went to enter the numbers in the edit
field, I couldn't. For example, pressing the number 1 gave the message "there
is no level 1"(or something like that). Other numbers like the number 3 got
similar results. Did anyone else have this problem and how did you get around
it? That is why I had to write to David, to get him to sign me up.
