I haven't had a problem with anything other than msn. There's no way to shut
that thing up. I don't use msn anymore because of that.

Take care,
Lois

I found this in the, What's New in Jaws 7.1.

. Pressing the CTRL key now stops speech immediately, even when using a slow
speech rate. In order to facilitate this change, the Reading Interrupt check
box was removed from the User Options dialog box in Configuration Manager.
Reading interrupt is always enabled now and cannot be disabled.

I'm sorry. Yahoo Groups has been bouncing on me, and my in box isn't even
close to full. Go figure. This has been happening a lot lately.
Anyway, did anyone respond to my question?

I've been looking and just can't find the reading interrupt selection
anywhere in JAWS 8. It used to be right there under typing interrupt in the
user options of the configuration manager. Strange.

Hi folks. I've noticed something odd. In JAWS 8, there is no longer a
choice to check reading interrupt in the user options in the configuration
manager. The typing interrupt is still there, but not reading.

I wonder if this could be why I'm finding it difficult to silence JAWS by
hitting a key.

For example, when I tab from link to link on a Web page, it will speak the
entire link before the next one, and the next. I can't tell what link I'm
on unless I sit and wait for JAWS to finish rambling on. And with so many
things, JAWS won't stop talking when I hit keys. It completes saying the
text, the title of a program, etc, and is determined to finish its sentence.
It's very confusing and aggravating.
I Always had typing and reading interrupt checked with earlier versions of
JAWS to avoid this annoyance. But now in this version I can't find the
reading interrupt so I can check it.

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, do you know where the reading
interrupt is, or at least how to stop JAWS from rambling on?
It's on a brand new super fast computer, so speed definitely isn't' an
issue.

Thanks.
