I just use Control-H in V6 to toggle the history.
I have no idea if this works for IE7.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] How do I turn off the history display in IE 7?
In IE 6, this was easy. Once I turned on the history display, all I had to
do was to press ALT+V, arrow to the Explorer Bar submenu, press RIGHT ARROW,
then find History and press ENTER to uncheck it. However, this isn't working
with IE 7 unless I first completely close it down and restart it.
